Role of Vasopressin Injection Intramyometrial in Decreasing Blood Loss During Abdominal Myomectomy (A Randomized Controlled Trial)

Abstract

Abdominal myomectomy is a major operation. Massive blood loss is the most serious complication which should be taken in consideration to decrease morbidity and mortality. There are several modalities to decrease blood loss approached in different studies as preoperative GnRh, uterine artery tourniquet, tranexamic acid, vasopressin …etc. Regarding this issue, the study was done on 60 women who were scheduled for abdominal myomectomy at Ain Shams Maternity Hospital from February 2018 till January 2019.all women fullfield the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were divided to 2 groups equally into control and study group. In the study group 1 unit of terlipressin acetate was diluted in 200ml saline and injected intramyometrial. However, 200 ml saline was used as same manner in the study group.Pre and post-operative hemoglobin and hematocrit and calculated amount of blood loss in suction drain and difference in weight of used towels are the indicators were used to detect the amount of blood loss during abdominal myomectomy. There were other secondary items as post-operative or intra operative complications like cardiovascular disorders, allergy. The end results showed that that the mean of blood loss was 826.67cc with standard deviation
