Impact of Completed Cardiac Rehabilitation Program on Depression Level in Patients with Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction

Abstract

his study was done to identify the impact of completed cardiac rehabilitation on depression level in Patients with Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction. The present study conducted on 60 patients of both sex and less than 65 years old at Ain Shams university Hospitals with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) (LVEF) ≤40% and New Your Heart Association (NYHA) class II and III, recruited during the period between January 2018 and June 2019. They were on optimal medical treatment for heart failure. Full history was taken and physical examination was done, 12 leads ECG and echocardiography were done, quality of life was assessed by MLHFQ, depression level was assessed by BDI-II before and after recruitment in a 3 month program Patients were assigned to 2 groups: Case group (30 patients): participated in cardiac rehabilitation program. Control group (30 patients): did not participate in cardiac rehabilitation program.
