PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY FOR BENEFICIATION AND) GRINDING OF EGYPTIAN GROUND CALCIUM CARBONATE AS ADDED VALUE FOR FILLER IN SOME INDUSTRIES

Mohsen Mohammad Moham'ad Farhat;

Abstract

The main objectives of this thesis are:

!-Processing Technology for Profitability

-;• 2-Processing Technology as added value to cheap and huge reserves of particles calcium carbonates to be used as filler in different industries at high price rates.
To score these two goals, the study required the following consecutive programs.

l-Ore Preparation and characterization

a-Two samples of different localities were used in this thesis, one from Beni Khaled upper Samalut formation, of thickness of 115 meter and reserves of -5 billion ton, named sample A. the other sample from El Tibben area (El Mokattam formation )of low grade, of thickness of 20-46 meter and reserves about 400 million ton, named sample B. both were characterized by microscopic obserVations, chemical analysis, X ray diffraction, DTA, and TGA analyses.
b- Size distribution of both sample after secondary and tertiary crushing and their D50

are 18mm, 1Omm for sample A& B respectively after secondary crushing and0.65mm,

0.8mm for sample A&B respectively after tertiary crushing.

c- The work index for both sample are: 16.72 kWh/t for sample A and 13.62 kWh/t for sample B

II- Ultra fine Processing Technologies

1-Dry grinding, classification and sizing of both sample A&B.

A planetary mill was used for this purpose and their D50&D97 for both samples are (1.62)lm, 6)lm for sample A and 1.93)lm, ll)lm for sample B) at optimum of grinding time20min, speed of rotation ratio250rpm, and 70% filling ratio) as well as the surface area of the products at these parameters' optima
