Abstract

The main concern of this Thesis is the methods of data reduction. A brief presentation of these methods will be given as well as a new method based on Rough Sets (RS) approach is suggested. As it is well known, statistics is considered a science of data reduction starting with a set of data, and ending with the mean and the variance for example is a data reduction. Of course there are many complicated statistical methods. Multivariate methods such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Factor Analysis (FA) and Cluster Analysis (CA) can be considered methods of data reduction. In addition to that, there are methods of data reduction based on Rough Sets.
