Physiological and biochemical evaluation of cowpea seeds (Vignaunguiculata) storability with seed coating technique.
Mahmoud Fathy Hussein Ali;
Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the response of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata LTeba cv). dry seeds to chitosan, 18-18-18 fertilizer, thiamethoxam, mefenoxam and fludioxonil. These different seed treatments were used in combinations to improve seed quality by (I) reducing the deterioration resulting from seed storage conditions, (II) combating of cowpea weevil (Callosobruchusmaculatus) in the store and fungi at sowing date of seeds.Treatment (5): (Chitosan) + (18-18-18 fertilizer) + (thiamethoxam + mefenoxam + fludioxonil (CruiserMaxx)) + (fludioxonil (Maxim)) recorded the best values for the most studied characteristics..
