Synthesis , Characterization and Evaluation of Some Polyol Esters as Synthetic Lubricating Base Oils

Mohamed Elsayed Haseeb Morgan;

Abstract

The industrial revolution is entirely dependent on lube oil for the engines. The base oil divides into three types ; The mineral oil which obtained from petroleum crude oil , bio-lubricants from chemical modification of vegetable oil and synthetic lubricants from definite chemical reaction.The first synthetic lubricants, derived from silicones and polyolefins was developed in the United States in the early 1930's. The World War II accelerated synthetic lubricant development. The current interest in synthetic lubricants follows from environmental regulations such;bio degradability, non-toxicity, environmental friendliness and recyclability.
