THE ROLE OF UFT IN THE TREATMENT OF LOCALLY ADVANCED AND METASTATIC COLORECTAL CANCER

Abstract
The current study was carried in Kasr El-Eini center of oncology and nuclear medicine from the period between. April 2001 and January
2002. Fourteen patients with established diagnosis of metastatic or locally and advanced colorectal cancer received UFT 300mg/m2/day +Ca leucovorin 90 mg/day divided on 3 doses. Twenty one percent of patients had partial response, 21, 5% had stable disease and 57% had disease progression with no complete response. Only 1 case had grade III haematologiocal toxicity and I case had grade III. Gastrointestinal toxicity otherwise there was no grade III or IV toxic ty. In conclusion
UFT provided similar efficacy as 5 FU continuous infusion with better toxicity profile.
