Synthesis and Reactions of Some Heterocycles Containing Nitrogen and Sulphur of Anticipated Biological Activity

Abstract
Chalcones are versatile synthon for the preparation of five and six-membered ring systems. A series of pyran, chromone and pyridine derivatives bearing pyrazole moiety was synthesized and evaluated for its probability to be used as anticancer drug.
The substituted chalconated pyrazole derivative 1 was synthesized by the reaction of o-hydroxy acetophenone with 1,3- diphenyl pyrazole-4- carboxylaldehyde in methanolic potassium hydroxide (Scheme 1). 1H-NMR spectrum confirms existence of 1 as the E-configurated isomer.
