HANAN SAMIR ABD EL-KHALEK;

Abstract

The present immunological study included 40 allergic rhinitis patients and 10 normal non atopic healthy persons as a control group.. The patients group included 22 males and 18 females with ageranging from 17 to 65 years. The control group included 6 females and 4 males. Both groups are matched as regard the age and socioeconomic standard.

Each of the selected subjects are submitted to the followings:

1) Evaluation of the total serum levels of IgE in both patients and control groups using EliSA technique.

2) Enumeration of CD8+T lymphocytes in the peripheral blood samples of both patients and control group.

3) Skin prick testing to detect the sensitivity of allergic rhinits patients to different common allergens. We used Bencard cabinet including 25 different inhalant and food allergens.

Conclusion:

• The highest prevalence of allergic rhinits in our studied patients group was at the age of20-<30 years.

• No significant difference between both studied groups as regard sex. i.e sex difference plays no role in incidence of allergic rhinitis.

• We found that the total serum levels of IgE for allergic rhinits patients were significantly higher than that of control group.
