The Jurisprudence Services Of I Forensic Sciences in Egypt

Abstract

Forensic medicine is the area of medicine that concems itselfwith testimony and infonnation to be presented in judicial or quasi-judicial settings. Forensic patholof,l)' concentrates on autopsies to be reported in legal settings. There are other areas of forensic medicine, such as forensic toxicolOg)l,' forensic surgery, forensic pediatrics and other forensic area of I the health, sciences that involve presenting information in a legal fonn.

Legal medicine is a field uniquely poised to benefit physicians and the public interest through its capacity to reconcil the adversarial relationship that oftem exists between the medical community and legal community.

This study was designed to shed some light on the medico-legal system and services in Egypt as regards the educational services, practical services and the interrelationship between them.

. The present study includes:

I- The role of the different departments of Forensic Medicine and

Toxicology in all faculties of medicine of Egyptian Universities.

n The role of the medico legal administration ofthe Ministry of justice. III- Analysis of one hundred and one (101) reports that were delivered from Assiut medico-legal department of the Ministry of Justice from 1980to 1985.
