Abstract


Several reports have documented an association between high

levels of

white

blood cells

m semen

and male infertility. The


identification and quantification of white blood cells in semen would

be of value in both diagnosis and treatment of male infertility; so, the .,. detection of white blood cells in semen should be a part of every infertility work up. That brought about the need of a rapid, easy to
perform, easy to interpret, and inexpensive method for verifying all semen samples provided to an infertility clinic.
The aun of this study was to compare and evaluate three simple

methods of detection of white blood cells in semen: peroxidase method, Cytur-Test, and Combur 2.Test. Peroxidase method was evaluated as it is easy to perform and recommended by WHO; Cytur test as it is easy and rapid; Combur 9 test has the same principle as that of Cytur and available in Egypt.
The study was carried out on 50 infertile patients. Each patient

was subjected to history taking, clinical examination, examination
