EVALUATION OF CERTAIN BIOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS USED TO DETECT PESTICIDE EXPOSURE

ALY AFIFY MAHMOUD ABDUL-AAL;

Abstract

Pesticides exposure causes many health risks, and these risks are often increased by the lack of awareness among workers about the hazards of such toxic chemicals and their lack of obligation to occupational safety and health measures. Moreover, some erroneous practices that increase the likelihood of harmful health effects (such as not wearing protective clothing, smoking eating and drinking during application). These effects may appear immediately after exposure (in the form of acute toxicity) or over time (as chronic diseases). The objective of this study is to light on the health status of pesticide workers based on questionnaire investigation followed by detection of hematological, biochemical and oxidative stress parameters for the pesticides occupationally exposed workers from industry, transport, loading, storage, mixing and application and compare such parameters with the biological parameters for non- occupationally exposed workers to pesticides. The implementation of the study was carried out as follows:
