EVALUATION OF ULTRASOUND MEASUREMENT OF INFERIOR VENA CAVA DIAMETER IN ASSESSING DRY WEIGHT IN HEMODIALYSIS PATIENTS

Haytham Ahmed Gaber;

Abstract

The post-dialysis body weight should ideally reflect a state of normohydration, de ed as the dry weight of the patient. Many methods were used for assessment of dry weight:
I 1- Measurement of jugular venous pressure.
2- Absence of edema.
I 3- Measurement of pre and post-dialysis blood pressure
and weight.
I 4-Ability to withstand ultrafiltration during dialysis.
5- Monitoring of hematocrite.

6- Anthropometric measurement.

7-Biochemical markers as ANP & cGMP.
8- Conductivity measurement
9-Chest X-ray

10- Lung density using the computed tomographic
I densitometry technique.
In our study IVCD was measured usmg ultrasonography.
1 Two groups were subjected to the study:
Group 1: 50 healthy controls.
I Group II: 20 patients on regular hemodialysis.
