Value of ST-Segment elevation pattern in predicting infarcts size and left ventricular function at discharge in-patients with reperfused acute''anterior myocardial infarction

Abstract

Electrocardiogram is still one of the most important tools to diagnose the presence of AMI for many years, in the diagnosis of anterior wall Ml we observe the ST segment measurements, such as the number of leads with or the magnitude of ST segment elevation, the number of Q waves in precordial leads as a precl ictor of infarct size.

The implication of shape of ST segment elevation in the acute phase of MI remain nuclear. in our study, we tried to clarify the clinical significance of the •shape of ST segment elevation in patients with• reperfused anterior wall MI in predicting infarct size and left ventricular function at
discharge.

••
".. In our study, forty patients with a definite diagnosis of
acute anterior MI with 6 hours of onset of chest pain were prospectively study, serial resting ECG were done and serial enzymatic level were measured to all patients.

All patients were subjected to echocardiographic examination to evaluation of the L VF.

All patients were subjected to diagnostic CA in a duration not exceeding two weeks after myocardial infarction. The results of hoth electrocardiogram, echocardiography and coronary nngiography were tabulated and statistically analyzed to find relation between them.
