NUTRITIONAL ASSESSMENT FOR HAWKERS IN MINUFIYA GOVERNORATE

Abstract
Good nutrition is important throughout the life cycle. Eating well as a young adult may help prevent problems in later years. For example, adequate calcium intake during young adulthood allows the bones to reach maximum density, which lessens the risk of osteoporosis in later life.
Good Nutrition in the middle adult years provides the energy needed for a busy life and slows the development of heart disease and other degenerative problems. An adequate diets after age of 65 can help keep the body and the mind functioning well for as long as possible.
. • A Random sample of 150 hawker males and females. Worker were selected from Minufiya Governrate as following. •
• About 79 of hawker were males and 71 of hawkers were females.
They all were chosen from urban and rural area.
• The plan of study was designed to collect the following data:-
1- Age, sex social statues, education level, work natural, additional work, work hours, daily income, total monthly income family size and locality.
2- Food habits including: Number of meals, eating between meals, eating outside home (in the street), methods of cooking, essential meals, omitted meals, like and dislike foods.
3- 24-hour recall method: used to collect the nutrients intakes. All day long and Diet history. These nutrients were evaluated using the Recommended Dietary Allowances (1989).
