"The effect of using of i-PRF (injectable platelet rich fibrin) on filling the gap of immediate dental implant in the esthetic zone": Randomized clinical trial

Abstract

Modern dental implantology aims to provide satisfying esthetics as well as a stable osseointegration. Placing an immediate implant usually results in a direct bone to-implant contact in the apical part of the socket which provides osseous anchorage to ensure a high degree of initial mechanical stability. Yet, this causes a circumferential gap coronally . The size of this gap depends on implant diameter, socket morphology and tooth type. Little gaps are generally filled with new bone, with or without graft or membrane. On the contrary, large gaps encourage the development of connective tissue between the coronal portion of the implant and the peri-implant bone.

Recently, platelet concentrates have been frequently used in many medical fields largely in oral and maxillofacial surgery.Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a simple method to prepare fibrin gels without exogenously added supplements. PRF is strong, and releases significantly during more than seven days large quantities of key coagulation and healing molecules (Thrombospondin-1, Fibronectin, Vitronectin) and growthfactors- particularly the Transforming Growth Factor-β1(TGF-β1), Platelet-Derived Growth Factors (PDGF) andVascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF).
