EFFECT OF LEAD ON INTRAUTERINE DEVELOPMENT OF ALBINO RAT

Abstract
Lead is considered to be one of the most toxic heavy metals in the environment. The target of the present work is to evaluate the effects of lead on the intrauterine development of albino rats. Two hundred and ten adult albino rats were used in the present work. They were divided into six groups; Control, three groups were given low dose of lead acetate and three groups were given high dose of lead acetate. The present work revealed that lead has a marked emryotoxic ant teratogenic effects which were dose-related effects. Also, cytotoxic effects on the cerebrum, liver and kidneys was encountered.
