Assessment of Fracture Strength of Endocrowns Using Different Ceramic Materials And Preparation Designs
Ahmed Mohsen;
Abstract
In this in-vitro study, lithium disicate ceramic (emax CAD) and polymer infiltrated ceramic network ceramics (Vita enamic) endocrowns were constructed. Different preparation designs and different intrapulpal extension depths were done. The measurement of the fracture resistance was carried out after cementation of the endocrowns with self adhesive resin cement on the endodontically treated prepared extracted teeth and after subjection to mechanical aging.
Sixty-four recently extracted upper premolars were collected and examined under a stereomicroscope for any decay or cracks. The premolars were selected upon having a similar bucco-lingual (BL) and mesio-distal (MD)dimensions confirmed with a digital calliper having only 10% deviation from the average.
