Management of the leakage from the Oesphageal Anastmosis

Sherif Mohamed Albalkiny;

Abstract

Esophagectomy is a complicated procedure in which anastmosis is done between the thoracic oesphagus and the stomach as in (Ivor Lewis procedure) or between the cervical oesphagus and the stomach as in (McKeon three - stages procedure). In each of these techniques, the stomach was used as well as the use of colon and jejunum for esophageal replacement. Despite of significant advances in staging, preoperative selection, operative techniques, and post-operative care, Esophagectomy remains a morbid procedure.
