Abstract
Rectal prolapse is not an uncommon mechanical bowel disorder. It was recognized in ancient Egypt and described in papyrus 150 ,.B.C. It is defined as protrusion of one or
more layers of the rectum through the anal sphincter .
In this study, anatomy and physiology of the ano rectum
are discussed with more concentration on the factors
