EFFECT OF LIGHT CURING DISTANCE ON WATER SORPTION AND WATER SOLUBILITY OF DIFFERENT SELF ETCH ADHESIVES

Alaa Mohamed Riad Hassan El-Zawahry;

Abstract

In order to evaluate the effect of water sorption and solubility in self-etch adhesives we need to evaluate it in both light and dual cured adhesives, also to simulate real live cases we need to use two different distances’ of the light cure tip from the adhesive. That is why in our present study we used multiple dual and light cured adhesives to evaluate the difference between each adhesive, whether light or dual cured, at 0 and 10 mm distance.
In the present study the adhesives discs were prepared in a custom rubber mold, where the adhesive solution was evaporated for 10 min prior to its application in order to insure complete solvent evaporation(11)(20). The adhesive solution was covered by a Mylar strip before photo-curing so as prevent oxygen inhibition and to ensure flat, air bubble free surface of the specimen
