The effect of direct antiviral agents (DAAs) on glomerular filtration rate ( GFR)

Mohamed Hassan Abdelgawad Mohamed;

Abstract

 Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is one of the commonest infectious diseases all over the world.
 HCV has not only hepatic manifestations , but also it many extra hepatic manifestations that increase risk of morbidity and mortalitiy of the patients.
 The kidney is an important target organ of HCV which increases the risk of renal complications and impairment of function.
 The evolution of the direct antiviral agents (DAAs) changed the management of HCV and its extra hepatic manifestations especially renal complications and function.
 In our study which was observational cohort retrospective analysis of 120 HCV positive patients with normal renal functions and have no other confounding factors then received DAAs regimen ,we assessed their glomerular filtration rate before and after full regimen then after one year.
