Abstract
The concept of gate communities (residential complexes) emerged in Egypt from the beginning of the 90s of the 20th century. The idea of gated communities is specified in an effort to improve the quality of life through social and financial classes, especially around Greater Cairo. The purpose of this study is to discuss the process of renovation for the services in gated communities in Egypt, and how it being as a part of investments attraction in the urban development projects. Regarding to the decision maker to build a gated community in Egypt nowadays, the developers start to introduce the services as a magnet facility named magnet services. The magnet services are not proposed as a small commercial zone with its facilities to offer the human needs for the local residents of that gated, but to be like a huge facility collecting the whole city services needed in one building.
