Abstract

C. perfringens is recognized as an important cause of clostridial enteric diseases, in cattle (cows& buffloes). It induced Cattle enterotoxaemia; these anaerobic Gram-positive bacteria are naturally present in the intestinal flora of mammals, but their uncontrolled multiplication under certain conditions results in the overproduction of toxins in the intestinal tract. Major clinical signs are induced by the systemic spread of these toxins in the blood and tissues. Enterotoxaemia may be acute or peracute, and sudden death is often reported in rapidly growing, apparently healthy cattle.
The current study were conducted to determine the role of C. perfringens in enterotoxaemia in cattle in different farms in EL Fayom , Cairo, Giza & El-Qaliubiya governorates in Egypt.
In the present work, 300 intestinal samples were examined for C. perfringens with conventional identification methods.
The descriptive analysis of the collected data for all samples was performed and the results were as following:
1. 40 samples out of 300 were positive for C. perfringens with incidence 13.33%.
