SYNTHESIS OF SOME NEW QUINOLINE DERIVATIVES OF ANTICIPATED BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY

MOGEDDA EMAM HAIBA;

Abstract

The chemistry of quinoline derivatives has been of increasing interest since many of these compounds have found useful applications as chemotherapeutic agents especially against plasmodium malaria, cancer and microbes. This leads the author to study the various variations in the
®structure of substituents of some new less toxic and more potent antimicrobial and antitumor agents in experimental animals.
One of these variations is the introduction of basic Mannich side chain to these compounds in order to increae both the solubility and the biological activity of the resulted new derivatives.
Another approach is the introduction of nitrogen, oxygen and/or sulphur heterocyclic moieties at the 4-position of the quinoline ring through a p-iminophenyl or p-phenoxy grouping to obtain a new series of heterocycles of dual mode of biological action.
