DOPPLER ULTRASOUND: EVALUATION OF URETERIC JETS AS A NOVEL MEASURE IN DIAGNOSIS OF URETERIC OBSTRUCTION

AHMED SEBAEY AHMED;

Abstract

Color Doppler U/S of the ureteral jets is an available tool in • urinary colics because it yieldin real time more precise of functional information than radiograph and B mode U/S and also demonstrate the grade of urinary obstruction .
The aim of this study is to evaluate patients with renal colic by
ureteric jets in Doppler U/S.
This study include 58 ureteric units, all patients in this study are admitted at emergency department of Benha University Hospitals with renal colic.
All patients are evaluated by:
• Urine analysis.
• Serum creatinine.
• Plain radiography.
• Conventional US
• Intravenous urography if indicated.
Then patients with evidence of ureteric obstruction by these methods of investigation are involved in the study and evaluated by :
• Color Doppler U/S (detection of ureteric jets and tabulated in the following parameters:• •
• Frequency of jets (mean 4 jet/5 min).
• Inter-jet interval (up to 150 sec).
