AN EXPERIMENTAL AND ANALYTICAL STUDY ON THE SHEAR BEHAVIOR OF REINFORCED CONCRETE WIDE BEAMS
Mohammed Abd El-Hamid Zidan Teleb Zidan;
Abstract
Wide beams are frequently used as transfer elements where the total structural depth
must be kept to a minimum. The objective of this research was to study the effect of using FRP stirrups on the shear behavior of reinforced concrete wide beams . This research presents both experimental and theoretical studies on the shear behavior of wide beams reinforced with FRP as well as steel stirrups. The test program includes seven specimens. The studied parameters are (1) member width, (2) type of stirrups and (3) transverse spacing of FRP stirrups . The obtained test results are compared to the predications of the finite element analysis using ANSYS 14 program . Good agreement between the experimental and numerical results is obtained .
