Abstract

SLE is an autoimmuile disorder characterized by the

..!.'.

presene of serum antibodies that are reactive to various self antigens.

Abnormalities of immune function, of myriad cytokines and now, of a growing number of genes are all suspected to be important in SLE.
Some studies have suggested a relationship between IL-l 0 and SLE.

The aim of our research was to investigate the level of!L-

, I 0 in SLE and study whether its levels correlate with the clinical
)
and laboratory parameters of disease activity.

The mean value of IL-l 0 was calculated tn 20 healthy control subjects, 30 SLE patients during activity (at presentation) and the same patients 4 weeks after starting treatment. Comparative statistical analysis showed that the mean IL-l 0 value was statistically significantly higher in SLE patients groups than in control group and a significant positive
