PCR GENETIC EXPRESSION OF INTERLEUKIN 37 IN THE EUTOPIC AND ECTOPIC ENDOMETRIUM OF WOMEN WITH ENDOMETRIOSIS

Sayeda Ibrahim EL-Desouky;

Abstract

Endometriosis is defined as the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterine cavity (Wu et al., 2017), it is a common, chronic, progressive and inflammatory disease, associated with local and systemic altered immune system (Wu et al., 2017).
It is an estrogen-dependent pelvic inflammatory disease affecting about 10–15% of women in reproductive age (Defrere et al., 2017).
The prevalence of endometriosis remains largely unknown; however, more than 180 million women worldwide are affected by the disease (Bouaziz et al., 2018).
The definition of endometriosis is histological so it requires the identification of the presence of endometrial gland and stroma-like tissue outside (ectopic) the uterus, these ectopic lesions are commonly located on the pelvic organs and peritoneum (Giudice et al., 2019).
Most common affected sites are the ovaries, fallopian tubes and tissues around the uterus (Choi et al., 2017).
