Neurobehavioral Assessment and Neuroimaging Correlation in Children with Cerebellar Malformations

Hasnaa Mohamed Elbendary;

Abstract

The cerebellum is finally given the spotlight it deserves, as traditionally the cerebellum has been known as motor dominator, but recently many studies reported that cerebellum plays potential rule in behavior, cognitive functions, psychiatric disorders and emotional regulation. Given the cerebellum the credit it deserves will lead to revolution in the neuroscience, through understanding connectivity of brain hemispheres and cerebral cortex with cerebellum, and more focusing on exploration the functional topography for motor and cognitive functions. This consequently will lead to demonstration it’s role in pyschatric disorders: Autism spectrum disorders (ASD), Bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, which means and confirm that cerebellum deeply affect our thoughts, behavior and emotions.
