MOHAMED SOLIMAN M. RIZK;

Abstract

Forty patients (32 males & 8 females) with ages ranged between
36-57 years undergoing diagnostic coronary angiographic in Cardiology Unit in Ain Shams University Hospitals with II-ID. All of them passed the usual clinical examination. ECG, & Echocardiography was done. While controls were clinically free subjects. & no any medical problem (without coronary angiography). Their ages ranged between 30-55 years. Blood samples were taken after 12-14 hours fasting and examined for:
• Fasting blood sugar.
• Total cholesterol.
• Triglycerides.
• Low density lipoprotein (LDLc).
• High density lipoprotein (HDLc).
• Lipoprotein(a).
The aim of the study to assess the relationship of serum lipids, lipoproteins and lipoprotein(a) with ischaemic heart disease in Egyptians.
The results of patients and controls obtained showed that there was a significant elevation of total cholesterol, T. G. and LDLc in ischaernic patients when compared with controls.
HDLc levels was highly significant lower in ischaemic patients if compared with the controls.
Also there was a high significant increase of Lp(a) in ischaernic heart patient during comparison with the controls.
