Secondary Fibromyalgia in different Rheumatic diseases

Abstract


This study was designed to detect the frequency of secondary fibromyalgia (FM) in different rheumatic diseases in Egyptain patients including Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Ankylosing spondyolitis (AS), primary knee osteoarthritis (OA).
The study group included 56 patients; 20 with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), 15 primary knee osteoarthritis (OA), 11 with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and 10 with ankylosing spondoylitis (AS). All patients were subjected to full history taking, physical examination, relevant investigations, assessment of disease activity [using Disease Activity Score in 28 Joints (DAS28) for RA, SLE Disease Activity index (SLEDAI), Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDI) for AS, the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) for OA and presence of FM using 2010 ACR fibromyalgia classification criteria with assessment of severity in positive cases using the revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQR) score.
