Perioperative Risk Factors of Atrial Fibrillation post CABG Surgeries, A Retrospective Non-Randomized Study
Hazem Mohamed Youssef;
Abstract
trial fibrillation represents a common complication after coronary artery bypass and valvular surgery, although it is a benign arrhythmia it may contribute to the morbidity, high cost and prolonged ICU stay.
This study was done on 660 cases who underwent isolated CABG surgeries at Ain Shams University Hospitals through one year duration, of them 100 cases developed POAF.
Medical files of the patients were reviewed, all clinical data and laboratory data were collected. Preoperative data included age, gender, history of diabetes mellitus, history of hypertension, smoking, chronic renal failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and use of rate control agents pre-operative. Furthermore preoperative echocardiography data were reviewed e.g: ejection fraction and left atrium diameter, right coronary disease, dominance and grafting. Intraoperative data included type of cardioplegia, duration of bypass and cross clamping, temperature on bypass and whether right coronary artery grafted or not.
