Correction of Lower Limb Deformities By Ilizarov Technique

Abstract


The clinical applications of Ilizarov's work are revolutionizing the

I field of orthopaedic surgery by allowing the treatment of congenital and acquired disorders of the limbs in ways never before thought possible.


Ilizarov's method needs the surgeon to know well the two biological I laws of Ilizarov, the components of the fixator, the function of each part I beside the normal mechanical axis of the lower limb segment and joint I orientation lines.



In this study, 30 cases of different lower limb deformities treated
I since 1995 at Shebin El-Kom teaching hospital. These cases were :- I (9) cases of tibial non-union (5 cases aseptic- 4 cases septic), I (5) cases of Equines deformity (3 pure equines- 2 equino-cavo-
varus),


(3) cases of Talipes equinovarus deformity,
I (3) cases ofcongenital pseudoarthresis of the tibia,
I (3) cases of genu-varum deformity,

I (4) cases of knee arthrodesis (2 pnmary, 1 failed and 1
I infected),
