Abstract
Histamine is an endogenous substance that is widely distributed in body
tissues and can on release from its storage sites-exert a variety of
• pharmacological effects of varying intensity. These effects range from mild
irritation and itching to anaphylactic shock and eventual death.
In this thesis, eight antihistaminic drugs namely, clemastine hydrogen fwnarate (CHF), mequitazine (Mz), loratadine (Ld), terfenadine (Td), dimethindene maleate (DM), astemizole (Ast), cetirizine dihydrochJmide (Cet.2HC1) and acrivastine (Acr) are analy1ically studied.
The thesis comprises five parts.
