A Database Of Flowering Time Genes

Abstract

Physiologists have been long interested in flowering time due to its importance in angiosperms' natural variety and breeding programmes and for the fact that flowering in angiosperms is the ultimate aim and is the crucial step for their survival. The current study aims at establishing an Oracle database to create a warehouse for flowering time related genetic resources. The present study also aims at using BLAST (Basic Local Alignment Search Tool) for alignment experiments of query genes against the created local database of Flowering Time Genes. The work presented in this dissertation, represents the creation and management of a local database that can be the core of an easy-to-access, scalable, profound and specialized database. The creation and the follow up updating of this database will allow plant physiologists and plant molecular biologists the means of an easier search and analysis through one specialized database.
