Mena Akladuos Moussa;

Abstract

he abdominoplasty is one of the most commonly performed aesthetic surgical procedures across the world. It is estimated that more than 800,000 people undergo this operation each year, making it the sixth most common cosmetic procedure. One of The primary indications for the procedure is skin and fascial laxity, which is often found in multiparous women. A frequently-encountered problem associated with the occurrence of fascial laxity or diastasis is abdominal wall.
Hernia traditional surgical techniques for performing abdominoplasty include skin incisions circumferentially around the umbilicus, resulting in complete detachment of the umbilicus from the anterior abdominal flap. As a result, the umbilicus maintains its only blood supply from the underlying fascial attachments via the umbilical stalk.
Abdominoplasty in the setting of a hernia repair can improve patients satisfaction, particularly appearance, hygiene, self-confidence and decrease the incidence of recurrence.
Combining UH repair with abdominoplasty can potentially lead to vascular compromise of the umbilical stalk. Since most of the candidates for abdominoplasty are young women the preservation of the umbilicus is of utmost importance.
