Efficacy of Scarpa Fascia Preservation during Abdominoplasty: A Systematic Review

Mona Mohamed Mohamed Omarah;

Abstract

bdominoplasty is one of the most frequent aesthetic surgical procedures performed worldwide. Postoperative seroma formation remains the most frequent complication, also hematoma is considered to be a serious complication that has a high reoperation rate.
Besides the use of closed suction drains, several methods have used to decrease seroma frequency. Among these methods are reduction of the dead space beneath the abdominal flap, less shear movement, and avoidance of lymphatic vessel harvest through preservation of Scarpa’s fascia.
