The Effect of Endometrial Scratch Injury on Clinical Pregnancy Rate in Women with Unexplained Infertility Undergoing IUI with Ovarian Stimulation A Randomized Controlled Trial
Ameena Mahmoud Sultan;
Abstract
n our study, we evaluated the value of endometrial scratch injury (ESI) on clinical pregnancy rate in women undergoing intrauterine insemination (IUI) with ovarian stimulation for unexplained infertility.
Many studies proved the impact of endometrial scratch injury on the success of cases with unexplained infertility assigned for intra-uterine insemination (IUI) with ovarian stimulation. (Rosillo and Robledo, 2012)
We hypothesized that a local inflammatory and angiogenic environment between the endometrium and the embryo can be simply created by inducing a limited endometrial scratch injury. These local inflammatory and angiogenesis reactions are indispensable for a successful implantation. Thus, endometrial scratch in turn, facilitates embryo implantation and subsequent pregnancy.
