Analyzing the Impact of Using Building Information Modeling BIM on Control Risk in Construction Projects

Nashwa Sayed Badawy;

Abstract

The research presents a study for integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Risk management in the construction industry. The construction industry faces a decline in the rate of productivity in the construction phase compared to other industries. This is mainly due to poor planning, coordination and poor communication between the parties to the project. The aim of this research is to use BIM to improve the efficiency of the implementation phase by studying the three measurable key performance indicators (Request for information – Change orders – Cost estimating) and applied it to case studies - And determines the desired benefit thereof. The researcher found an increase in the rate of construction productivity in the case of the application of BIM systems due to reduced re-work and wasted time resulting from this and avoid a large number of problems of lack of information required in the implementation phase and resolve conflicts Which led to mitigate many types of risks faces the project representing in reduction of cost and time and avoid operational problems before the start of the project.
