ENHANCEMENT OF WATER-BASED DRILLING FLUID RHEOLOGY AND TRIBOLOGY USING DIFFERENT NANOPARTICLES THROUGH EXPERMENITAL AND SIMULATION STUDIES
Abdulrahman Mohamed Bakheet Abdulwarith;
Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to study the effect of nanoparticles in the laboratory on the properties of WBM which was formulated with Bentonite, KCl and XC polymer. The effect of both MWCNT and SiO₂ on base fluid was studied. The first part of the study is carried out on the rheological properties and friction factor of WBM by using the MCR rheometer and tribometer,in addition to pH and filtration measurements. The second part of the study is to select the best fluids based on the minimum friction factor which were furtherly evaluated through simulation performance. The performed simulation studies were on rheological modelling, torque and drag along with well hydraulics and hole cleaning.
