CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCTTATION IN THE NEWBORN
Maggie Said Abd EL-Fattah;
Abstract
Cardiopulmonary arrest is defined as the cessation of functional ventilation and circulation. The pathophysiologic dynamics that precede this terminal state may be initial respiratory failure and arrest with subsequent cardiac decompensation or primary cardiac arrest.
The most common causes that lead to an arrest in the newborn are :
-Hypoxia (regardless to its cause).
-Secretions_ in airway.
-Prematurely: apnea and immature lung function.
- Hypothermia below 36 C.
- Compression of the cord during birth.
- Large blood loss.
-Difficult labour with stress to the baby.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation includes those measures_.
