Feed Water treatment using natural and waste materials

Moshira Mohamed Mahmoud Salem Ibrahim;

Abstract

The main trend of this work is based on preparing thermally and chemically modified kaolinite, kaolinite/iron oxide composite and kaolinite/Ag composite, perform material characterization and evaluate their efficiency as adsorbents for the pre-treatment of sea water
This thesis has three chapters
The first Chapter deals with the introduction and literature review. Chapter one contains a general introduction to the thesis. The purposes of this study are also presented including the outline of the thesis and the literature review on the chemistry of kaolinite, previous work on their use as adsorbents and the different modifications carried out. The nanocomposites of the kaolinite with iron oxide and silver nanoparticles and their preparation are also approached.
The second Chapter presents the experimental work achieves to attain the objectives of this thesis. This chapter focuses on the preparation of the adsorbent materials form kaolinite. Chapter two presents the details of the chemical reagents used in this study along with the kaolinite modification; a general characterization techniques and explanation of the syntheses are also presented. The characterization techniques are presented at the end of Chapter two. The detailed procedure used in the thermally and chemically treatment of kaolinite is also presented in Chapter two plus the variation of different parameters during the modification process.
