Abstract

The total number of patients included in this study was 114. There were

114 revascularization procedures pe1f01med: 52 femoropopliteal and 62 femoroinfrapopliteal reconstmctions. All bypasses included in this study were vein bypasses utilizing the greater saphenous vein of the ipislateral or contralateral limb. These were canied out using the in situ technique in 79 instances, and using the reversed vein technique in 35 instances.

The mean preoperative ankle-brachial index for all the cases was:

0.44 ± 0.14.

The one month patency and salvage rates for all the limb salvage procedures were 81.0 and 83.3 percent respectively. For in situ bypasses, one month patency and salvage rates were 83.5 and 81.0 percent respectively, while the patency and salvage rates at 30 days for reversed vein bypasses were 91.4 and
88.6 percent respectively. The mean improvement in ABI was 0.47 ± 0.19 with a

mean postoperative ABI of 0.92 ± 0.17 for all procedures.

The one month patency and salvage rates for all procedures were 81.0 and

83.3 percent respectively . At 3 months, cumulative patency and salvage rates were

83.3 and 84.9 percent, respectively. At one year, the cumulative patency and salvage rates were 71.5 and 84.9 percent respectively, and the conesponding alues were 60.6 and 70.5 percent at two years.

It was found that the difference in early (one month) patency and salvage

/< rates for all the limb salvage procedures perfmmed in this study was not
