Abstract


Most of newly emerging viral diseases are of zoonotic origin and are caused by RNA viruses, Viral diseases are the most dangerous among infectious diseases, the most widespread and most deadly in humans, animals and birds. which caused by direct contact between humans and animals.

Human astroviruses are a major cause of gastroenteritis worldwide and are considered the second or third viral agent in children with diarrhea, which account for up to 10 % of cases of sporadic gastroenteritis in some regions of the world. These diseases include acute flaccid paralysis, with some fatalities reported in children with underlying immune disorders.

Astroviruses often transmission through fecal-oral route, also through contaminated food, water and surfaces, and the virus can persist in the stool up to several days after symptoms disappearance.


Astroviruses infect many birds and animals and cause diarrhea, including turkeys and chickens, and in animals such as calves, lambs, pigs and deer. It also affects minks and cows and causes encephalitis and meningitis, and diseases of the respiratory system in cattle.
