Evaluation of Serum Fetuin A in Psoriatic Patients and Its Correlation to Coronary Artery Disease

Nardeen Nabil Sadek Eskander;

Abstract

soriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated, inflammatory disease of the skin. It is a multifactorial disease with genetic background triggered by environmental factors and immunological mediators.
Most epidemiologic studies suggested that patients with psoriasis are at increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
The aim of this study was to evaluate serum level Fetuin A and assess Ca scoring by CT scan and to detect their relations to the severity of psoriasis and cardiac risk in psoriatic patients.
Fetuin A is a serum glycoprotein that is synthesized mainly by hepatocytes and contribute to vascular diseases in psoriasis.
Measurement of CA scoring by CT scan is now widely used as a diagnostic tool for subclinical atherosclerotic disease in psoriasis.
The current study was carried out on 24 psoriatic patients (Group A) and 24 healthy controls (Group B), admitted to dermatology clinic in Main University Hospital.Both groups were divided into 3 groups according to BMI (mean, overweight, obese).
