Systemic hypertension in pediatric hemo-dialysis patients; assessment and control
Sara Mohammad Mahmoud Ahmed Abu El-enein;
Abstract
mbulatory blood pressure monitor is now considered the gold standard for diagnosing hypertension among HD patients. Abnormal vascular regulation of intravascular fluid leads to chronic volume overload in children with ESRD. The non-pharmacologic management of hypertension stresses mainly on management of dry weight and sodium profiling.
Our work aimed to study the impact of Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring & Body Composition Monitor on control of hypertension in pediatric hemo-dialysis patients.
The present study was carried out at the Pediatric Hemodialysis Unit, Children`s Hospital, Ain Shams University during the period extending from November 2017 till November 2019. It included all the patients attending to the unit (45 patients) aging from 5 to 18 years old and undergoing regular hemodialysis more than 3 months without any anatomical or vascular disfigurement hindering usage of the device.
