Abstract


During the period extended from november 1993 till septemper 1995 ,


138 domestic birds (75 chikens,34 pigeons and 29 ducks) as well as 185

.
Wild


birds (75 doves, 24 crow,hodded, 16 cuculus, 35 hoopoes, 20 moorhens and

15 black birds) were collected from different localities of kafr EI-Sheikh Governorate for studing the incidence of the helminthe parasites among these birds and to clarify the role played by the wild birds in transimission of new
helminthe species to the domesticated ones.



The present study revealed that the infestation rates among the domestic birds were 53.3% in chickens, 38.2% in pigeons and 24.1%inducks.ln chickens 57.5% from the infested birds were infested with nematodes, 25% were infested with cestodes, and 17.5% were infested with mixed nematodes
and cestodes.



In pigeons, 69.3% were infested with cestodes, 23% were infested with nematodes and 7.7% were infested with cestodes and nematodes. While in ducks, 71.4% from the infested birds were infested with nematodes and 28.6% were infested with cestodes.


Conceming wild birds the infestation rates were 38.7% in doves, 66.7%

m crow,hooded , 37.5% in cucules, 34.3% in hoopoes, 15% in moorhens and

33.3% in black birds .
