Quality of Life among Women with Uterine Prolapse

Abstract
Uterine prolapse (UP) is a common problem which can occur in women of any age group. Despite its high prevalence in developing countries, it has not received sufficient medical attention. This condition, although non- fatal, pain, and discomfort experienced by these women's, interferes with basic day to day activities. As a consequence of various physical problems, the quality of life gets affected and associated psychosocial problems make these women's socially withdrawn. It thus affects their ability to work and earn a livelihood.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines the quality of life (QoL) as an individual's perception, in life in the context, of culture and value system in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, standards, and concerns (Shrestha et al., 2015). Uterine prolapse has significant negative effects on a woman’s quality of life, ranging from physical discomfort, psychological and sexual complaints to occupational and social restrictions (Dhital et al., 2013).
Women’s who undergo uterine prolapse face of multitude of health problems, physical conditions, psychological, social and sexual may affect their QOL and future health. In some women undergoing uterine prolapse, the major factors contributing to these problems are poor of information, knowledge, support and counseling, the importance to appoint a qualified community health nurse in interact with women suffering from uterine prolapse and there family (Burrows, Meyn & Weber, 2014).
