“Oral Health-Related Quality Of Life in Egyptian Children with Non-Syndromic Cleft Lip and/or Palate” A Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract
This study was conducted to assess OHRQoL in Egyptian children with non-syndromic CL/P compared with unaffected counterpart and to find if OHRQoL will differ according to the gender and age of the child with CL/P. The study also compared the difference between child's response and parent's perception.
A total number of 100 (50 in the study group and 50 in control group) aged (8-15) were selected from the Cleft Care Center at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University and the Outpatient Clinic of Pediatric Dentistry and Dental Public Health Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University.
After the Participants have been identified by meeting the eligibility criteria, an informed consent was obtained from their caregivers and an informed assent was signed by the participating children themselves.
Participating children were asked to complete the validated Arabic version of COHIP-SF 19 questionnaire. Caregivers of the subjects in the study group were also asked to complete the same questionnaire that was re-worded for them. Data collection was done by one investigator.
The collected data was revised, coded, tabulated and introduced to a PC using Statistical package for Social Science to be processed and analyzed.
